Author name: Pope Saint Leo the Great
Pope Saint Leo I (AD 400—461), also known as Leo the Great, was a pivotal figure in the early Christian Church. He was Pope from AD. 440 to 461. He fought against various heresies of his time, including Pelagianism, Manichaeism, and others. One of Leo's most famous acts was meeting with Attila the Hun in 452 and persuading him to turn back from invading Italy. Three years later, he also negotiated with Genseric, leader of the Vandals, to prevent the complete destruction of Rome. In 1754, Pope Benedict XIV proclaimed Leo a Doctor of the Church. His feast day is celebrated on November 10.
